What Does I do?
Well, I’m a network analyst by trade. I work for a large US company and manage their network infrastructure and troubleshoot the daily issues that arise. These issue could be as simple as someone downloading files that are too large, sending large email attachments to a huge group of users or it could be a complete network outage caused by a local construction company cutting through a fiber line. The main thing that makes this type of work appealing to a person like me is that it is constantly changing. The challenges that I have to deal with on a daily basis are rarely the same and often require thinking outside the box to come up with a quick solution and eventually a permanent fix. Those that are not technically savvy often think of computer specialists and network analysts as brainy geeky number crunchers that look at ones and zeros all day. Nothing could be further from the truth. A network analyst is a security guard, detective, repair man , and financial manager all wrapped up into one. So if you’ve ever thought about looking into becoming one of us don’t think its all coding, computer software and technical jargon because nothing could be further from the truth in my opinion.
